Anime Fandom on the Internet, Part 3: Academic Anime

Some have attempted a more academic approach to anime. There's really only one work in print that approaches adequacy. There have also been internet sites (some are essentially defunct, but one seems to be updated). There's a research circle and even a new published journal.
